Originally released in a classic brown leather look, this new deep blue colour scheme pays tribute to the darkest tone of Persian Blue.
Inspired by a 17th-century Persian filigree and lacquer book cover from the Safavid era, the Safavid Indigo design celebrates the rich artistic heritage of Persia (Iran). Its intricate leather filigree pattern and hand-tooled motifs are presented in a deep indigo blue, paying tribute to the darkest tones of Persian Blue and the refined symmetry characteristic of Safavid bookbinding. The original artwork was created using reddish-brown goatskin, real gold, lacquer and paint, reflecting the craftsmanship of a period renowned for illuminated manuscripts, decorative bookbinding and the arts. This modern interpretation combines historic elegance with everyday functionality, featuring a durable Smyth sewn binding, wrap closure with hidden magnets, cream-coloured laid paper, a convenient memento pouch and a satin ribbon marker. The result is a beautifully crafted journal that brings the timeless artistry of Persian bookbinding into modern life.
