Hobonichi Techo 2024 - A5 Cover Only - Tomitaro Makino: Koshinso

Presenting a minimalist techo cover adorned with a botanical portrayal of the "Koshinso" plant, crafted by botanist Dr. Tomitaro Makino in 1901.

The Koshinso, depicted using sumi ink and watercolors, is an insectivorous perennial plant thriving on damp mountain rocks of the northern Kanto region. Its name is rooted in its discovery on Mt. Koshin in Tochigi Prefecture.

The delicate botanical artwork, drawn over a century ago on June 30, 1901, showcases horizontally arranged light purple blossoms and curving stems sprouting from and embracing the flowers. Unlike Dr. Makino's usual approach, the illustration's backdrop is painted in black.

This Hobonichi techo cover now features a meticulous depiction of a blossoming Koshinso flower on an ecru-colored cotton fabric.
