Smooth writing, just wet enough. Only needs a little push with the converter if I'm using something with a lot of particulate (Octopus Celestial at the moment), but still smooth even with all that shimmer coming through. With a pure liquid ink, it's synovial smooth.
The guilloche is just the right depth to be tactile and grippy without being rough. The pattern is more subtle than it looks - it's a curved guilloche, not a diamond cut.
And for writer's block, you can just sit there sliding the cap on and off until the magnetic closure (on an aluminum pen! (Yes, I know how they do it)) seduces your brain back into creative thought. I usually ink it with Wearinguel Frankenstein, and will again.
Note: if you find it leaking, you probably got one from the very first shipment. (I got mine within a day or two of it showing up on the shelf.) Diplomat fixed this by shipment #2 and it's now flawless. They replaced it under warranty.
