Where the rainbow meets the mountains, you’ll find the art of Darlene Kulig. Her highly stylized landscapes of the Canadian Rockies celebrate nature in a dance of saturated color. Inspired by the loss of a great friend, world-class oboist Cynthia Steljes, Kulig turned to painting her signature landscapes—joyful, bright, peaceful, and spotted with champagne bubbles that effervesce from the earth.

Kulig’s paintings of Canada build on her experience as a graphic designer. “The designer in me loves simple shape and bold color while the painter in me explores light, rhythm, and personal connection,” she says. She takes hundreds of photographs when she travels and uses them as a basis for authentic details in her work.

A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, Kulig is a member of the Etobicoke Art Group and Neilson Park Creative Centre. She lives in Toronto, where she paints alongside her Old English Sheepdog.

Contains 5 each of the following images:
Cascading Wildflowers and Mountain View
Snowcapped Mountains with Turquoise Lake and Big Sky
Canoe Resting in Rainbow Reflections
Crimson Sunset
